I have been on a training course and have been shown how to 'polish' a skimmed wall. I did a bit of research on t'internet and some plasterer's say that polishing a wall is the sign of an amateur.

What do they do? Is polishing bad?

  1. What they are saying is a master plasterer can  finish trowell  off so well that additional "polishing"is not necessary.

In the drywall trades, polishing can mean fine finish sanding or wet wiping of joints.

Would'nt say it is bad , but if you can learn how to plaster so well that it is not necessary then you can call those who must "amateurs"

  2. It's probably too difficult for most plasterers..
