Plasterboard finish?

Putting new plasterboard up on a ceiling , can I artex straight on board or do I need to uni bond skim and then artex . how can i fill the joints if they are not square as one side is rough cut ( only 5 /10 mm . gaps .

  1. i would not use durabond 90....it is a fast setting compound, hinch the 90, means dries in 90 mins., and it will shrink and more likely to crack.......we use  it only for small repairs.....just use USG sheetrock mud.....bed coat, tape, skim coat, finish coat, sand.......

It sounds like your hanging some sheetrock, you will need to fill gaps using a product called Durabond 90 it is a self setting joint compound, you have to mix it up with water then apply a bed coat then paper drywall tape, then you will apply a second coat over the tape and pull it smooth and tight, after that sets up you'll need to use topping compound and skim coat this over everything, let it dry over night and then sand it out to a smooth finish. hope that helps you out.   3. If you saw the number of postings on here about how to remove Artex, you would go for a simple skim coat after taping and filling joints. But if you want the Wookey Hole look, that's up to you ...
