Question:

Plastic Modeling: CH-46?

I just bought a Fujimi 1/72 scale model aircraft (ch-46) and have almost completed it. But, the kit doesn't come with a canopy mask, and the model masking tape I own isn't flexable enough to fit in such a small area. What are some alternatives you can think of insted of cutting a canopy mask from my crappy tape. Does regular Scotch tape work? Please help.

  1. I use to take scotch frosted tape and cover an entire canopy. I would then take a brand new razor blade and score the tape on the canopy frame lines. Then using tweezers I would lift out the thin strips exposing the plastic.

I'd then airbrush the whole thing with the color of the internal bracing so it looked correct on the inside of the cockpit. Next I'd airbrush the final color so the outside looked correct.

Gently remove all the remaining tape after at least a day of allowing the paint to dry and you are done.
