Does anyone know how long it takes to fully become a plastic surgeon?

What schools are great to go to for this occupation?

Any information please!

  1. -- lots of good grades and science in HS

-- a good college with a lot of science and math, and very good scores on the MCAT (med school entrance), 4 years/.  Actually, some architecture or design courses are good electives for going into plastic surgery.

-- a good medical school for 4 years, with good grades

-- a residency in plastic surgery/general surgery for 4-6 years, where you work in a hospital, burn unit, or clinic starting with reconstructive surgery.  You get paid, but not as much as most doctors.  This is where it is critical to get into a good program--everything else before is very general.  You might have to start in general surgery and then move to plastic surgery later.

If you are really good, then you can go into practice for yourself.
