Question:

Plastic Surgery in Korea for White People?

by  |  earlier

I am a white guy living in Korea and seriously contemplating having a neck lift here. The thing is I am concerned that the doctors here will not have experience operating on white folk and so mess it up. Is it different to operate on a white and an Asian? I wonder would I be better waiting until I get back to the West and have it done there. Can anyone offer me advice on this please?

  1. If you were to receive some facial cosmetic surgery, then it would be best to go West and receive your surgery there. However, since you want a neck lift, then I would assume it would be safe. Just to be careful, do a little bit of research, have a translator or go to an English-speaking medical doctor, etc.

  2. I'm pretty sure when you walk in that office, the guy will notice that your Caucasian. I bet he'd have learn something in Medics...

Having a Translator is good, unless you can do it yourself (translating)

  3. Some korean female superstars did surgery and they came out fine. So go ahead trust the surgeon. But if you really feel uncomfortable then go to America. Lets say if you are going to do surgery in Korea bring a korean person with you so they can translate just in case. Good Luck.

  4. I had the same concern as you with major dental surgery I'm having here at the moment requiring three trips. I took a Korean person with me to do the translating so I would definitely advise you to do the same.

One problem I've had in Asia is that they don't give enough anaesthetic, I guess because Asian people are smaller they need less so watch out.

  5. Ask the doctor in Korea and if he says he's okay then do it there.

  6. You don't have to worry.  Korean doctors can perform operations on anyone, just like doctors in the States can perform operations on Koreans.
