Question:

Plastic carrier bags????

I'm all for saving the planet, but must admit, I DO sometimes forget to bring my own bags. I don't mind paying for a plastic carrier, but I do think the shops have got a nerve selling me a bag with the shops logo printed all over it. Why should I pay 5p, and walk around advertising their store for them???? Anyone else feel it's a cheek, and will demand plain white bags????

  1. Yes that's true; But there we go again plastics bag ,adds ,and inks, and course jobs  well all that changes if they did`nt stop the production of hemp and not the smoking kind  unfortunately Oil petroleum take over is now are end .They just sucked the fluid out . then Grow to clean ,heal with green and provide many jobs so my solution is Hemp grocery bags with adds with soya ink  sound good ?

  2. you could solve the problem by not forgetting to take your own bags. sounds like you are at fault.

  3. Just have a bag in your car at all times, and the leftover plastic bags you can recycle at your nearest grocer! Don't buy their bags anymore, I also agree it's a way to advertise their store.

  4. Get real! I remember my husband buying a very expensive pair of sunglasses and then trying to remove the Porsche writing from them. Designer clothes have labels on them. Remember Lacoste, Nike, Adidas? Gucci and YSL handbags. Worn and carried with pride.

In Switzerland we've been paying for carrier bags for years, and they have to be biodegradable.

  5. I think it is stupid charging you for carrier bags, i wouldnt mind paying for a plain one or a paper bag. I agree with you, why do we have to advertise their store or company.....

  6. i understand how you feel, but the big picture is, being charged even a tiny bit for plastic carrier bags have been shown to lead to a sharp drop in its use, thereby reducing all the problems associated with the bags. the fee tends to be enough to make most people bring their own bags.

perhaps you could think of ways to not forget to bring your own bags. i stash a folded bag in my handbag pocket, and another, bigger bag in my car. so even if i forget to bring one, i would have two already at hand. i'm sure over time it becomes normal.

  7. i completely agree, but thankfuly we live in a capitilist society, so I will not go to any shop that charges me for bags, if enough people do that supermarkets will have to give them for free again.

  8. hi,

I agree totally. But, science has an answer, It involves the use of an additive which make the plastic "totally degradeable".

Totally harmless to the enviornment and does not emit methane while sitting in the land fills. Totally recycleable and the plastic does not loose any of its properties.

The product life cycle is programmed duringing the mfg. process./ Ithink its the way to go
