Plastic model kit molded in red, Can I paint it a different color?

My plastic Tamiya model kit was molded in Red. I was wondering if I can paint it white or silver or other light color? If I do, would the red still show? or is the paint(no matter what color) would cover the red body? thanks.

Sure, you can always respray it with any color that you want the finished product to be.  Make sure that you spray it lightly with model car paint that you can buy from any local craft store.  Let it dry for at least 24 hours after you paint it.  Make sure that the new paint does not clump up on the model surface.
