  1. many times in the past when the ponds weren't made out of the polycarbite they are now.  They do sell pond repair kits at lowes and home depot.  Basically it is a water proof plastic patch with a fiberglass coating.  I never found it toxic to fish and it actually does work quickly and under water.

I haven't had to fix one in a while but the kits are still available.

  2. Get some 3M brand 5200 marine sealant. Always available at a boating store, sometimes even at Home Depot or Lowes. It comes in white and black and comes in a caulk gun tube or a toothpaste tube. It's the stickiest stuff you'll ever use and it's designed for below waterline use on boats at speed.

I use it all the time for pond repairs. When you use it, be sure to stick the tube in the hole and backfill it. Continue filling through the hole and onto the inside surface. You are effectively making a plug for both sides of the hole by doing it that way. It takes a while to dry, but it will last forever.

  3. There is a underwater  tape you can buy at West  Bend  Marina on line
