  1. yes

  2. I dunno..

You could line it with tape, or dip the rod tip in clear fingernail polish, or buy a new rod tip and glue it on....or just trim the rod back to the last good ring...

Good excuse to go buy a new fishing rod!

  3. You have to replace the tip.  Heat the old tip carefully with a cigarette lighter, to loosen the adhesive, and pull the tip off.  Take the old tip with you to your local sporting goods store, to get a replacement the correct size.  You should probably get some tip cement...it's heat activated.  When you put your new tip on, make sure that it aligns with the rest of the guides.

  4. It sounds like the ceramic insert has came out, this can happen when you use braided or very low diameter lines, you cant put in a new ceramic ring, instead the whole tip ring must be replaced which is very easy to do, simply heat the metal tube with a lighter and slide it off, buy a new one of the same diameter add either hot melt glue or epoxy resin and slide it on tightly and straight, they will do this for you in the local bait shop, cabelas and bass pro should also do it for you at no extra cost, make sure you buy a quality new ring and it should last a long time, quality rings to try are Fuji rings.

  5. You can't purchase those ceramic rings alone. You'll have to purchase a tip repairing kit and replace the whole tip.

  6. You can't buy the insert ring.  And even if you could, I wouldn't.  It wouldn't be as strong as it was.  I wouldn't recommend cutting the rod down, it will change the action and feel of the rod.  I would either replace the tip yourself, or just take it to a local tackle shop and they should be able to do it for you.

If you plan on doing it yourself, I'll warn you right now - tip sizing is very important.  Tips are measured in 64th's.  So, a size 5.5 tip is actuallly 5.5/64th of an inch.  Many tackle shops either sell or will let you use a tip sizer.

Tips are easily replaced, but just take your time and READ the directions before you do it.  And when heating the tip to get it off, and when heating the "glue" to put the new tip on - be sure to do it gradually so that you don't overheat or burn the rod blank or over heat the glue.  If you heat the rod lank too much, you can damage the graphite fibers and they can shatter in the middle of fighting a fish.  Just go slow, pause....heat again, pause a few seconds....heat again....until it's able to slide off the rod.

(If you do decide to get a tip and do it yourself, I would also consider what type of tip material you want.  If you have a relatively inexpensive rod, then the rings in the guides are more than likely ceramic or steel.  If the rod is say, more than $90, then you may have something like aluminum oxide or Hardloy/Hialoy materials.  Those are much harder and much more durable than ceramics.  If you use braid, it's much better to pay the extra $1-2 to get a harder ring.  They are much less likely to gouge/get groves from the braid.)  Ok....I think that's enough info to get you more than on your way...

Good luck - and come back if you have more questions.
