Plastic surgery in the air force?

I am currently active duty and was thinking of getting a tummy tuck. I know that people in the military have gotten plastic surgery before. Im sure that i can not just go out and do it without permission of some kind. Does anyone know what the procedures are for this? I dont mean that they are going to pay for it or anything. Im going off base to get it done.

  1. There is a plastic surgery clinic at all major military medical centers. They do on occasion perform some elective surgeries when they are low on patients with medically necessary surgeries. They do these to keep up their skills. The waiting list is long. I had a friend (military spouse) have implants put in but hers was because of having a mastectomy due to breast cancer.

I do know of one person in active duty air force that had a tummy tuck and breast lift done but she went out in town and paid on her own.

  2. As far as I know, you just have to apply for leave to have the surgery done and for the recuperation time.  I know girls who have had it done, and I've never heard any mention of them needing permission first.  You can put your name on a list to have it done for free by a military doctor, but it is a LONG list and there's no guarantee that your name would come up.

  3. Just make an appointment with your PCM..It should not be a problem if you are willing to pay for it on your own.

  4. I know that in the Navy they actually would pay for one non-essential procedure. I had a friend that got brest implants. She basically told them that her flat chest was causing her self-esteem issues.Other wise I would talk to one of your medical guys to ask about the procedures.
