Platini gives red card to video technology
Uefa president Michelle Platini has reiterated that he does not want to see video technology in the game.
The former France international midfielder says that such a move would mean that “we would have

PlayStation football.”
This comes following the news that the International Football Association Board, who determine the laws of the game, announced that they will be testing new video and goal-line technology ahead of a meeting in March. The meeting has been set up in order to determine the future of goal-line technology in football and should put an end to speculation one way or another.
The calls for goal-line technology have been rife since Frank Lampard's disallowed goal against Germany, at the World Cup in the summer, in which the ball had clearly crossed the line but the referee failed to award it. Since then similar incidents have been scrutinised by fans and pundits desperate to see goal-line technology implemented.
Uefa experimented with extra assistant referees in last season’s Europa League and deemed them so successful that they have brought them into the Champions League this season as well. Platini said: “One referee is not enough, not in the modern era where you have 20 cameras.

“It is unfair, the cameras can see everything but the referee only has one pair of eyes. Every time he makes a mistake, those cameras are there to focus on it.
“These people are going to make mistakes and to be a referee I think you have to be a m*******t. The referee has to be helped by the clubs, the fans, by players, by the media and also by the authorities. It is why we have added two assistants for Champions League games this season.”
Platini also said that the referees don’t help themselves these days because they don’t stamp their authority on the game. He said; “When I was a player, if I went face-to-face with a referee and received a yellow card, I would not go near him again,”
“If the referee did not show me a yellow card, I would see a weakness in him and do it again. That is reality.”
