The UEFA president believes this year’s Euro final is going to be a repeat of what happened four years ago, as he expects http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 and Spain to fight out for glory all over again.
Platini has expressed that he wants to see Spain and Germany in the final of the Euro 2012.
These two sides faced each other in the Euro final four years ago and the Spaniards were the ones who emerged victorious, after a goal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707.
The Germans haven’t won a single trophy since 1996, and they are currently hungry for silverware. However, the Iberians cannot be underestimated. Despite the fact that they are currently without two of their most important players, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629 and Carles
Puyol, Spain are still considered to be heavy favourites for the European tournament.
While speaking to the press, Platini expressed how this year’s Euro is very tough and gave an example of Netherlands, who were knocked out of the group of death.
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 going out shows that Euro 2012 is harder than the World Cup.”
"Netherlands' exit really took me by surprise, as did the elimination of Russia."
Platini stated that despite having a strong team, Dutch still couldn’t manage to pick up a single point and that explains how the European competition is tougher than the World Cup.
The UEFA president also took out time to appreciate the Italian team. Italians are currently playing a little out of their comfort zone, as their tactics involve a three-man defence.
Platini expressed that the Italian side is playing entertaining football and he was ‘baffled’ to see how they are not currently following their usual defensive strategy.
"He [Prandelli] has got his team playing football, it's great to see," Platini enthused. "I was baffled when I saw that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 had renounced their classic defensive style of play."
Speaking about Germany and Spain being in the final of the competition, Platini said:
"I would like the final to be between Germany and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.”
Germany and Spain are currently the favourites to reach the final of the competition. However, with teams like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 and Netherlands getting knocked out of the, anything can be expected from this edition of the European tournament.
