Manchester City’s assistant manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Platt has gone on to insist that Manchester United are currently in the driver’s seat, and the Premier League title is now there’s to lose.
Last season, City went on to win the league title, as they overturned a League trophy drought which lasted over forty years.
This season things haven’t been going according to the team’s plans, as they are currently sitting five points behind Manchester United.
Despite the point difference not seemingly being too huge, it is still big enough to allow United to cruise through and win the league title.
Even though winning the league seems like a long shot, Platt insists that the City squad are still looking to do their best and go on and try and overturn the five point deficit separating them from the current league leaders.
"It's not over, we can make it up, it's not insurmountable by any stretch of the imagination," Platt told reporters. "But equally, it's theirs to lose."
He then talked about the poor performance that City put up recently, and how it cost them some valuable points. Following that he admitted that the team is looking to go into their next game with all guns blazing, as they have to put in match winning performances
week in and week out.
"The next game is another game and you've just got to get on with it. Go into it and win it. You can't really say our best form is yet to come but I think we are playing well and we've got to make sure that continues."
Platt then talked about the game against Sunderland and admitted that despite the team losing one nil, they would have won that game on any other day.
"Even though we got beat by United I think we performed well in that game too. The other blip we've had was at Sunderland [losing 1-0] but even that one was a strange game when you look at it. I think we would win that game nine times out of 10 with the
chances we've created."
It is now up to City to prove their worth in their coming games, as they look to retain their Premier League crown.
