The developer announces the “companion app” for the game and also points out the fact that the game if free to play with no cover charge.
Sony has a bit of a crisis on their hands when it comes to the sales figures of their latest portable gaming console, the PlayStation Vita. Although everyone in the industry agrees that it is a great piece of technology, the lack of content on the console
has dissuaded many from purchasing a Vita for themselves.
Analysts seem to agree that both a price cut and additional content will boost the sales of the console and Sony seem focused on the latter.
CCP, the development studio behind Eve Online, is currently responsible for developing the PlayStation 3 exclusive title, Dust 514. The game is a first-person shooter set in the Eve Online universe with both games playing a major role in how the other game
pans out.
However, the developer also seems to want to utilise the compatibility between the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita as they recently unveiled the “companion app” for Dust 514.
Brandon Laurino, the executive producer of the game explained, “At the most basic level, you can do transactions on the market; equip and customize your character, your vehicles; set up strategies with your friends and Corporation members – all of these
sort of companion functions on the go”
He continued, “We’re also exploring all of the super fun exciting stuff,” which he went on to elaborate as, “interesting gameplay opportunities and things like that. But we’re not ready to talk about that.”
The game’s executive producer also pointed out that the game would be available for gamers absolutely free on the PlayStation 3. That means initial coverage cost or anything of the like will be charged.
He stated, “It was a relatively confusing proposition, and we wanted to make it unambiguous that this is a free-to-play game.”
That must be great news for gamers but at the same time Mr. Laurino also pointed out that there would be “credit packs” as well.
More details on that in the next part of this article.
