PlayStation 3 gets Limbo, The Darkness 2 gets delayed – News – PS3, Xbox 360, PC
It may not be Christmas yet but PlayStation 3 console users will be getting themselves a nice early present right about now, as Limbo hit the PlayStation Store.
Breaking away from the growing trend of release dates being pushed back away from the ones originally promised by the Publisher, Limbo was right on the mark with its 19th July release date in the United States, on the PlayStation 3. The game is
also available for download in European territories as the European release date is the 20th of July.
Limbo is a digital download, so for the few gamers (and few here means very, very few) who were expecting to walk into their local retailers and purchase a Blu-Ray Disc will be sadly disappointed. The only way for gamers to get the hands on Limbo is to purchase
and download it via the PlayStation Store, similar to how the game was distributed on the Xbox 360 (via the Xbox 360 LIVE Marketplace).
While it may have taken a whole year to do so, Limbo is another game which has jumped on the multiplatform bandwagon after initially promising to be a one-console exclusive for the Xbox 360.
The game won numerous awards and was received praise and critical acclaim for its unique art-style and enchantingly creepy visuals and gameplay. The entire game is in Black and White, with Gray tones adding a sense of depth to the levels, as the game tries
to recreate what an actual limbo state would feel like.
The game’s haunting, yet brilliant, soundtrack is also available on iTunes, after the game’s developer PlayDead decided to share that with the world as well.
Limbo is also set to hit Valve’s distribution platform, Steam, for PCs in a few weeks time, with the 2nd of August confirmed as the release date.
Not following Limbo’s example is Darkness 2, as the game has been delayed until Q1 2012.
Darksiders 2 is the sequel to its cult-classic and beautifully violent predecessor, Darksiders. The game set itself apart from other first person titles and games in the horror genre by giving player control over two, what can only be described as, demon
snake type things.
Pardon our description, but if anyone has seen the game they will know exactly how accurate a description that was. Moving on, the game was originally set for a release this year, on the 7th of October.
However, it seems that the game’s Publisher felt the title would not be in a polished enough state by that time. The release has now been pushed back to the 7th of February in the United States and, three days later, on the 10th of
February in other regions.
