PlayStation 3 undergoes massive price cut
Over the course of last few months, a number of reports have been floating which state that Sony was looking to drop the price of PlayStation 3. Many believed these rumours to be nothing more than made up stories, but as it stands, Sony have officially gone
on to cut the prices on their gaming consoles.
Sony has gone on to drop the price of their 160GB PS3 to $249.99, and this new price is being brought into effect, immediately.
The last time PlayStation went on to suffer a price drop, was when the PlayStation 3 Slim was released in 2009. Back then, the price of the console was dropped to $299, in order to bring both the regular and Slim on par in regards to prices. However, as
of right now, the prices have been further dropped by fifty dollars.
With Sony now leading the way by dropping the price of its consoles, it is safe to say that Microsoft’s Xbox 360, is also going to be in line to drop its prices in order to avoid a massive loss in sales. The 360 went on to boast some impressive sales in
United States, but if it does not follow the path that the PlayStation has paved, it could soon lose out on that race.
The Nintendo Wii is more than likely to not suffer a drop in its prices, considering the fact that the console already went on to shed a few dollars from its price tag recently.
Nonetheless, Sony is not stopping with just dropping the price of their 160GB console. The company are looking to drop the price of the 320Gb version as well, and are now going to make that version retail for a price of $299.99. This deal is also going to
include a copy of Infamous 2 and a thirty-day membership of PlayStation Plus.
All in all, it seems like Sony are trying desperately to try and beat off the competition and get the upper hand on system sales all across the world. With the prices that they have gone on to quote, it is more than likely that the sales of the device are
going to dramatically increase over the coming week.
However, that being said, with these new prices in order, the upcoming PlayStation Vita is now going to cost, just as much as a 160GB version of the PlayStation 3. As a result, Sony might have just gone on to confuse its potential customers from deciding
what device to invest in, in the near future.
