BioShock, FIFA, Assassin’s Creed and Black Ops set to debut on the Vita.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO, Jim Ryan, believes that the content lined up for the PlayStation Vita will boost the consoles sales in the long run.
Although the Vita has been hailed as an impressive piece of technology by everyone associated with the gaming industry the console has not been selling as well as perhaps could. In Japan the console’s sales have been dropping steadily since its release in December with an increase last week the only major boost in sales recorded for the Vita.
The term on everyone’s mind is price cuts and although analysts think that reduce the purchasing price of the Vita is the best way to go, Jim Ryan does not. He explained, “We're not at the stage of thinking about price cuts," before elaborating, "In Europe we're three months in - in Japan a little bit longer.”
Ryan pointed out that some of the content that had been made available for the console had been aimed at the Japanese market and that more content, relevant to Western territories, would be made available.
“There's a lot going on - a lot of very Japanese specific content that wouldn't really resonate with the Western world. We're very relaxed and confident about the prospects for Vita this year and beyond."
Pointing out that there is still plenty of quality content on the console and how Sony has supported the Vita like it has no other previous console, the SCEE CEO said, "We obviously launched Vita with a very strong launch line-up, easily the strongest of any other platform that I've been involved with.”
However, for those gamers who are still on the fence on whether or not to spend their money on the Vita, Ryan explained that there were plenty of content on its way for the console across all genres with titles such as BioShock, Assassin’s Creed: Liberation, FIFA 13 and Black Ops: Declassified.
“There's still a lot of content to come. We have Little Big Planet to come, and then on the third party side FIFA, BioShock, Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed.”
