PlayStation Vita titles Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Ridge Racer will require external memory cars
Reports on the internet seem to indicate that a number of PlayStation Vita’s launch titles will require the use of an external memory card in order to save game files.
The PlayStation Vita is Sony’s second generation of handheld portable gaming devices and is the true successor to the PlayStation Portable which was released in 2004 in Japan and in 2005 in North America.
With revolutionary new features for Sony in portable gaming devices, the Vita has two cameras (front and rear), a touch sensitive back side (no pun intended), two analogue sticks, an OLED touch-screen and a processor which can deliver gaming experiences
similar to the PlayStation 3.
It also has internal memory as well as the option to expand the storage capacity with external memory ports. It seems that the external memory may be more than just a bonus feature as a number of games will require the extra space in order to store files.
Before we jump into which games those are, it would be better to take a look at some of the games that are able to do without the need of external memory.
PlayStation Vita fans and prospective buyers will be pleased to know that Codemasters’ F1 2011 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will only require what is already on offer with the handheld console.
F1 2011 has received plenty of praise for its console counterparts and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has an entire cult following behind it.
Other games include Army Corps of h**l, Dark Quest Alliance, Power Smash 4, Mahjong Fight Club and Lord of Apocalypse.
However, when one compares these titles to the ones that will require the user to purchase an external memory card, it becomes clear that the internal memory capacity is not something gamers will want as their sole option.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Ridge Racer are two launch titles that will surely be either at the top or very near the top of every Vita fans wish list and yes, the reader guessed it, both will require extra memory in order to save the game’s files.
Other games include Hot Shots Golf 6, Monster Raider, Disgaea 3 Return and Dream Club Zero.
Ever since the PlayStation Vita was officially unveiled with its true title, originally being dubbed the Next Generation Portable, during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) there has been unreal levels of hype surrounding the sleek console. Every announcement
made it seem better and better.
Sony have also announced the release dates for the PlayStation Vita, with the portable gaming device hitting Japan on the 18th of December with an European release scheduled for early 2012.
