PlayStation Vita to get PlayStation Portable hit Lumines
Sony are promising a very strong line-up when it comes to the games which will be available for gamers to purchase for their upcoming handheld portable gaming device, the PlayStation Vita.
With the Tokyo Game Show -no prizes for guessing where that particular event is being held- in full swing, Vita announcements came thick, fast and were a real cause for excitement. The Remote Play feature, which allows gamers to play PlayStation 3 titles
on the Vita, was one of the many enticing features that made Vita strike a chord with the hearts of gamers all over the world.
However, for the PlayStation Portable faithful, the news that Lumines was getting a revamp and reimagining for a release on the Vita will be something of a revelation.
James Mielke, the producer of the game, explained that they still received plenty of demand from fans who wanted to see Lumines available for download on the PlayStation Network.
"The original Lumines is the game people still ask us - to this day - to put on PSN, but it's a difficult thing to do because of re-licensing issues," Mielke said in an interview.
However, the evil which is known as the corporate world, indirectly did some good, as the licensing issues resulted in the game’s developers working on a sequel to the game, which would remain pure to its original’s roots.
Mielke explained, “So, what we set out to create with Lumines: Electronic Symphony (for the PlayStation Vita) was a true, spiritual sequel to the original game.
There will be a few game changers introduced in Electronic Symphony, including Shuffle Blocks, which could either help or hamper the player depending on how it is used. The Shuffle Block will randomise clusters for those of you who wondering how something
could be good and bad at the same time.
However, the real star of the game was the hypnotic soundtrack which immersed players in the game. So far My Chemical Romance and their track, “Hey Boy, Hey Girl” and Kaskade’s “4 AM” have been confirmed with mystery surrounding the rest of the tracks which
are to be included.
‘4 AM’  is also supposed to be the theme song of the game and was the inspiration behind Electronic Symphony as well.
Mielke was in a teasing mood when he came to specifics as to how many tracks there would be in the game when he stated, “The exact number will remain a secret for now, but it will be in the dozens.”
He also confirmed that more tracks would be released for the game after the game’s launch as well.
All in all, there is plenty riding on Lumines: Electronic Symphony to succeed its cult classic predecessor and to replicate what it did on the PSP for the Vita.
