Hideo Kojima has shared a few details of how the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will make use of the PlayStation Vita’s touch controls.
Sony may be struggling with the PlayStation Vita when it comes to sales figures of the latest portable console that the company has to offer, the PlayStation Vita, yet it is confident that the problem will fix itself when there is more content available
for it.
One particular piece of content is surely a title from a series that is known to move consoles off shelves and into homes and that series is the Metal Gear Solid series.
The original Metal Gear Solid debut on the original PlayStation console and became an instant hit with its protagonist, Solid Snake, becoming an icon in the world of video games. With the PlayStation 2 came more MGS titles and the PlayStation Portable even
got its own Metal Gear Solid games with Peacewalker.
It seems Kojima is keen to continue the legacy as Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is set for release on the PlayStation Vita, with the title nearing completion and release.
Mr. Kojima is fairly active on the social networking site Twitter and shared a few details of the upcoming game by posting a few Tweets. All of which had something or the other to do with how the Vita would make use of the Vita’s touch controls.
Firstly, using the rear touch panel or flicking it to be more specific, players would be able to, “slice enemy’s throat with knife.”
Also the rear touch panel could be used to peek from cover or as Mr. Kojima put it in under 140 characters, “If you pinch out left and right on rear touch panel with first person camera, you can stretch up yourself.”
A very handy move for those who have a thing for stealth and at the same time it sounds like an innovative way to make use of the touch pad.
Kojima has a history of bringing innovative ideas to his titles and will surely be looking to do the same with the Vita, however at this point in time details are sparse but one can expect more on the story in the next few weeks.
