NetherRealm Studios have explained that the PlayStation Vita version of their popular game series claiming that it is the same as console versions.
Mortal Kombat games have been around for many a generation and have had at least one title on almost every gaming platform to date.
NetherRealm Studios are set to continue that tradition with their latest offering: Mortal Kombat on the Sony’s PlayStation Vita. Speaking the PlayStation Blog, the creative director of the studio shared some interesting features that players can expect from the portable version of the game.
“It’s actually everything from the PS3 game: the entire Story mode and all the downloadable characters and content, plus additional modes and features that are tailored for (the) PS Vita.”
Mortal Kombat will not be the first game to be able to run on the Vita at the same level as its console version as Electronic Arts’ FIFA 12 for the Vita can do the same, which has to be a plus point for Sony’s second generation portable gaming device.
The extra features for the Vita version include around 150 extra Challenge Tower levels and one-on-one online matches all of which are set to run at a blistering 60 frames-per-second.
“Those extra 150 Challenge Tower missions are tons of fun.” Explained Ed Boon, the co-creator of the series as he shared an interesting way as to how the game would make use of the Vita’s features, “Imagine tilting you PS Vita affecting the gravity of the game.”
Mr. Boon also revealed a fair amount of other Vita exclusive features that the Mortal Kombat developers have taken advantage of.
He continued, “In terms of gameplay, we’ve always wanted MK (Mortal Kombat) to be as accessible as possible. For example, you can touch your X-ray meter to execute an X-Ray attack.”
Fatalities could also be performed using the front touch screen as players simply had to input the required directions needed to rib opponents limb from limb and the like.
It sounds as if NetherRealm, the developer, are putting their considerable weight behind the title and expect it to be a success when it finally hits shelves.
