Developer, Nihilistic Software, also teases “a very unique third mode” for the game’s multiplayer in a week’s time as fans have something to get excited about for the Vita.
The PlayStation Vita has been unanimously praised a great piece of technology yet at the same time sales figures, for the second generation of handheld gaming consoles from Sony, have not met the expectations analysts in the industry had.
Sony is content with the Sales figures of the console so far, which has sold in excess of 1-million units since its launch in Japan near the end of last year. Yet, it has done so at a very slow pace and recently recorded its lowest weekly sales figure in
Japan.
Many are putting the decrease in sales down to two factors; firstly, the price and secondly, the lack of fresh content for the console.
After a promising launch period with titles such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss and WipEout 2048, followed by Unit 13 and FIFA, there really hasn’t been much in the way of AAA titles for the console.
However, all that is set to change as Nihilistic Software released a trailer for their upcoming title, Resistance: Burning Skies. The trailer focused on the multiplayer component of the game and shared plenty of details.
The PlayStation Vita game is set to feature six maps with Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch and “a very unique third mode which we’ll be revealing next week” - Sounds exciting.
As for the rest, well if anyone has played a Resistance game before they’ll know what the multiplayer is all about. Up to eight players can take part in the various game modes and Nihilistic also shared details of a two-on-two version of each game mode.
At the same time players will be able to rank up and kills will earn XP, which can be used to upgrade weapons not only in terms of performance, but also visually.
It sounds and looks pretty great at this point but until gamers can get some hands-on time with Burning Skies, we’ll keep ourselves from making any judgements. Having said that this is a game that looks like it is going to impress when it finally hits shelves.
