  1. Well we are oldsters and we were just out of Playa de las Americas.  We found it fine, I don't know what it was like at night because we were not walking the streets at night.  We stayed in our hotel if not going out on a trip or special dinner.  Our hotel provided very good entertainment in the evening.  We thoroughly enjoyed the place.

  2. Hi,

If you're coming to Las Américas, you'll probably come to get drunk, have fun and enjoy your holidays....so it's a good place for that if you're really looking for that.

You'll find a lot of English people as Las Américas seems to be a little piece of England but with better weather.

The crime is lower than in your country so don't get bother if you don't get into any problem.

And not many to tell as I suppose you're not coming to the Island to discover it's beauty and culture, that it has!

    Enjoy it!.

  3. I live in Tenerife, about 10 minutes drive from Playa de las Americas.  The resort is growing rapidly and the island councils are trying their best to clean up the areas.  The Veronicas area (where all the bars are) has improved a great deal over the past five years and what used to be a busy road is now pedestrianised.  The newer part of PDLA is called Costa Adeje and a lot of four and five star hotels are being built there....we've even got a Ritz Carlton hotel now!!  You don't need to stay in the resort though, Tenerife is a beautiful island with so much more to offer than just bars.  Don't listen to all the bad things about it, make your own mind up when you get here and I'm sure you'll enjoy it! :o)

  4. Depends what age you are, if a teenager and all you want is s*x and booze then you will love it but if you are a couple or a more mature person you wont like it. I went their with my family a few years ago and wouldn't go back, Los Christiano's is more for the older generation but even at that I wouldn't go back. It doesn't have the Spanish feel about it.

  5. No it depends what you want from your holiday.  It has loads of bars and clubs, a lovely seafront promanade which you can walk into Los Cristianos from, in about half an hour.  It will be nice and hot and there are good trips to go on, the waterpark and dolphinarium nearby is great.

  6. I cannot believe the last reply from Jesus I find Tenerife a lovely family place  I have been there for the last 12 years and never seen anything like he has stated.

I am sure you will have a lovely time. I always have.

  7. I've been a couple of times and I've found it ok.

Everyone will have their own opinions as always and then there's people who aren't satisfied and want more than the resort offers.

Have a super time - if you go to the marina in between Las Americas and Costa Adeje do pop into either The Geordie Pride, Irish Rose, Regatta's - bars and cafes - the Irish Rose is a good place to get comfortably drunk on 1 Euro a pint beer!

    Happy holidays!

  8. No! I go every year and it's lovely. There is a quite rowdy part but also a really really nice part with restaurantes, shops & bars. Believe me, it's nothing like some people make it out to be. Or at least it's not where i've been.

  9. I'm a surfer or I was.... There's a spot there El Conquistador... near a hotel of the same name...

So I lived there in my Campervan with my mates.... did various things for a little bit of cash.. Such as working for the clubs handing out flyers and pulling in the punters for em... Man it is a hole the amount of street crime and the different gangs in operation.. Theres eastern europen gangs ran by some heavy Russians... had a few scrapes with them viscious dudes man..  Theres african gangs - the guys mainly focus on selling stuff and avoiding the police... The african girls form like prostitute gangs... I'm not being funny here those girls are dangerous I mean stay clear of em they will cut your throat. They seem to attack like yardies and try and talk patois.. You want to die I reccomend hiring their services.

Then we have the clubs this is a mix of some nasty *** british gangsters from London, Manchester, Glasgow and Liverpool... To most holiday makers you wouldn't see what was going on but these guys are supplying all the drugs to the african lads and then policing it themselves with the bouncers and the "PR's"

The cops are totally corrupt - no word of a lie and they hardcore too man they will beat you to a pulp rodney king style and then laugh at you whilst they stroll off... Just cos they don't like the look of you. Do not under any circumstances get caught with cocaine there man.... seriously.

All that aside you will probably spend the entire time drunk and oblivious whilst the various, criminals and touts fleece every penny from you.. h**l the best criminal bunch over there will actually get you to break you credit card out and buy timeshare... You'll be thinking man I just wanted my free bottle of wine. Those guys are bad... they get old couples in rooms and they use anything to get them to buy.... lies, intimidation.. its open season to these guys..

One of the biggest problems there is girls especially tourist girls getting raped.. I am serious it happens a lot and these girls just go home and don't report it.

  10. I would like to add to what 'Bristol' says, costa Adeje area in Las Americas is lovely and you get good home made food at 'The Irish Rose' on the porto colom harbour- La Pinta beach.  The walk between Adeje and Los Christianos along the seafront is nice.  Depends what you want from a holiday. There are the bars that only the young people would go to and also several great Irish bars with entertainment like The Dubliner and The Irish Fiddler.     Lots of good restaurants, find one called the Marfil, it's really good.     I was put off from going there from negative reports but found it great and have been back several times since.   Have a good holiday.

  11. Thanks to Jesus S we now all know what's going on at Playa de las Americas. I simply can affirm what he says, years ago I used to live there in a campervan as well. The question remains: Why don't you believe him? Because you absolutely want something else to be the truth! Because the truth hurts! Well, go and see yourself - but don't forget completely what he warned you of...!

  12. I've been there quite a few times and it's fabulous ! Lovely apartments, beautiful meals, warm sea, shops, pubs , clubs, sun, sand, views and trips. We stay in Sunset Harbour in Adeje and make sure we go on at lest one trip whilst there.

The only 'downside' was you get sunburned even if there's no sun and the time-share touts are a nuisance - never be tempted even if they tell you you've won a holiday - you haven't ! Tell them    a) you are an owner there and     b) you don't use/have a credit card.

You MUST have a licorice and Turkish delight ice cream !

    You'll love it - enjoy !!!!!

  13. Its nice.

Been twice, once on honeymoon and also with my wife and year and a half old daughter.

Both times were great as there is lots to do!!
