  1. I'm not convinced the problem is with music streaming.  Try Launchcast radio under Yahoo Music Jukebox.  If that doesn't work then I am convinced.  Report the problem to Yahoo!  Do a search from YMJ on a song that is not in your music library and play a 30 second segment.  If that doesn't work then I am convinced.  Report the problem to Yahoo!  Otherwise, describe suffix name for the song you are attempting to play, e.g., music.mp3 (mp3 is the suffix).  Enter it as Details under your Yahoo! Answers Question.  It may be that you don't have the codec to play that particular suffix.  About 2 months ago, a user reported a similar problem and it had nothing to do with streaming.  The user was attempting to play songs which were encoded using the ogg protocol.  Let me know what you find.  Good luck.

Some things to try for your "home" configuration:

For IE, don't use any proxy, automatically detect settings.

Reason:  YMJ probably uses the IE settings.

For YMJ, Click Edit, click preferences, General tab:  Make sure YMJ under Bandwidth settings is using Broadband connection.

For WMP 11, Options - Network tab, make sure all boxes are checked with the exception of use ports.  Click HTTP and Configure. Only circle should be ticked for use web browser settings.  Click RTSP and Configure.  Only circle should be ticked for do not use proxy server.

Lastly I would try with firewall software enabled and then disabled.

That's all I can think of.  If no success, then try Yahoo!  Thanks for your feedback.

    Yes, I understand now!

Instead of a wireless connection, try connecting directly to your router or cable box.  See if there is any difference under the WMP Network tab options.  If that doesn't do anything, create a new logon account and bring up WMP 11 under that account.  Reason is that WMP creates an XML file under /logonaccountid/local settings/Application Data/Microsoft/Windows Media/11.0 that contains the information for streaming.  If that fails, then we are back to square one.  Let me know.
