Player Profile: Kaka - Part 4
During the January of the same year, Manchester City openly announced that they did not want to sign the Brazilian player and it was final that Kaka was to remain at AC Milan. During these “talks,” protestors gathered outside
Kaka’s house and chanted that they didn’t want him to leave the club. In reply, Kaka came out of his window and flashed the Milan jersey just to show that he was going to remain in the club where he belongs.
After the 2008-2009 season ended, the Spanish side, Real Madrid elected a new president Florentino Perez. The newly elected president wanted to make the fans happy and wanted to show the Madrid fans why he was elected. Perez
expressed his interest in Kaka openly and offered Milan a record 68.5 million Euros deal for Kaka while the player was out on international duty with Brazil.
AC Milan’s vice president Adriano Galliani did not deny anything and did actually agree that Real Madrid had made an offer. He told the press that the “talks” are still not taking place and the deal is yet to be finalized.
Soon, Galliani showed interest in the move and said that the club was going through heavy financial crisis and which could be a reason for Kaka to make a move to Real Madrid. On 8th of June, Milan and Real Madrid, both announced that
the Brazilian midfielder was going to be a part of the Spanish team as he is going to put pen on paper, signing a 6 year deal for the Los Blancos, Real Madrid,
Kaka made his first unofficial debut for Real Madrid when the team faced Toronto FC. However, his first goal came off against Borussia Dortmund in a pre season match which Real Madrid won 5-0. Even though he showed great
form throughout the pre seasons and showed the world that he was worth the money, he still did not manage to put on a great show during the Spanish La Liga.
His first goal for the Spanish side came after 5 weeks against Villarreal and it came in when he scored a penalty kick. The spot kick was won by the Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo and it was seen that both “players of
the year” during their time were clicking well in the Los Blancos. Even though Ronaldo had to take the kick, he handed the ball to Kaka so that he could score his first goal for the club and the Brazilian made no mistake as he planted the ball into the net.
On 5th of August 2010, it was announced by Real Madrid that Kaka was “injured” as his left knee had taken a knock. It was also announced that he had undergone surgery and was not going to be a part
of the first team for at least four months as the Brazilian was ready to be sidelined.
Kaka’s first season with Real Madrid wasn’t a success at all as the Brazilian midfielder was mostly left stranded. He was part of the team when Cristiano Ronaldo was out and with Ronaldo out the team actually felt helpless
as Kaka could not really help the team make a move alone and could not really carry them on his own.
While Kaka was mostly a success at club level, he was simply outstanding while performing for his national team Brazil. He was called up for the FIFA World Youth Championship in 2001, but Brazilians lost the quarter finals
to the African nation Ghana.
