Player Ratings: West Ham v Manchester United – Part 2
In part 2 of the Player ratings Bettor.com will evaluate the performance of Manchester United players, who were outclassed by a team which sits rock bottom of the premier League table.
MANCHESTER UNITED
Tomasz Kuszczak: 5.0
A far from convincing display by a keeper who wants out of his current club, Kuszczak had a chance to impress prospective buyers by putting in a great performance -- but failed to do so.
John O’Shea: 5.0
The most experienced of the back four, John O’Shea was expected to be the leader at the back, but he lacked the organizational skills and looked as clueless as everyone else. A hugely disappointing night for the versatile defender.
Chris Smalling: 5.5
Unfortunately for the youngster, none of his defensive colleagues were up for it, and he was left all alone to battle it out against Obinna and Cole. It was too much for the inexperienced defender to take, but he was nevertheless the least culpable of the
Manchester United back four.
Jonny Evans: 4.0
Easily the worst player on the pitch, Johnny Evans was given a chance to show that he has enough fight in him to be considered as an able back-up to Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. However, he failed miserably.
Fabio Da Silva: 5.0
Like his other defensive partners Fabio did nothing to impress anyone. He started the match as a left-back and was then switched to the right. He was equally ineffective in both areas and was withdrawn after the hour mark. The youngster needs to improve
his awareness if he wants to make the grade.
Darren Fletcher: 5.5
Fletcher is normally full of running and energy; however it was missing on a night when United lacked any sort of spark in the midfield. He hardly looked passionate enough and hardly contributed on the night.
Anderson: 5.5
After an impressive showing at the weekend, the normally energetic midfielder failed to dictate the play in the middle of the park. He lacked ideas and was overrun by West Ham’s midfield.
Ryan Giggs: 5.5
Giggs should have been the best player on the pitch, given his experience and his undoubted ability, the Welshman like all his team-mates was found wanting. He had some nice touches but his overall display was hugely disappointing.
Bebe: 4.5
He is far from the finished article, but he did nothing to justify his hefty price tag. Bebe was off the pace and offered nothing of significance during his stay on the pitch. He was rightly substituted at half time, and it wouldn’t have been a surprise
if he had been taken off earlier.
Javier Hernandez: 5.5
Chicharito was deprived of service, and ran like a headless chicken at times. However, he did come close to scoring with a header, but the Mexican looked a shadow of the player he has been so far this season.
Gabriel Obertan: 6.0
Manchester United’s best player on the night, Obertan hit the post early and caused West Ham trouble with his direct running. He moved to the right in the second half and failed to make much of an impression. One of the few red devils who came out of the
match with some respect.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Wes Brown: 5.5
Replaced Evans for the last 20 minutes but hardly looked convincing.
Rafael Da Silva: 5.5
Like his brother, Rafael failed to cope with the unstoppable Obinna.
Federico Macheda: 6.0
Macheda looked lively after he came on and almost scored, only for Green to make a fine save.
