The Inter Milan President has leapt to the defence of his side, and blames player departures as the reason behind his team’s poor form
The Inter Milan CEO has come under severe criticisms from the fans, pundits and inadvertently by club manager, Claudio Ranieri.
Ranieri in a recent interview bemoaned lack of signings as the main reason behind his team’s poor form. Cameroonian international Samuel Eto’o was offloaded in the summers to Anzhi Makhachkala and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-Motta-c34897 left San Siro for
Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window. Ranieri has admitted that his side was hard-pressed as they lacked the depth required by big teams.
However, Moratti maintained that the sales were inevitable and pleaded the fans to get behind the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 players, as they had provided great service to the club recently.
While speaking at a Beneamata fan organised event, the oil baron commented:
“We have become used to these players and we have also become used to each one's individual style, so it isn't easy to change them, because you'd have to find another player of the same standard and you wish you could find the
same player when he was younger.”
The Inter Milan Chairman has been accused of poor management from his side, and the fans have questioned the departure of Motta this winter. Even Valentino Rossi, an Inter Milan fan and Moto GP racer, has been public in his disapproval
of Inter’s performances, tweeting sarcastically after the defeat to Novara.
As a consequence to the public disapproval, Moratti has come out and defended himself, maintaining that he is an Inter Milan fan as well, and that all the decisions he makes are in the best interests of the team.
“It is difficult to find a model whose pieces you can change one by one, in order to have what you originally had straight away,” said the oil baron.
Moratti has insisted that his Inter Milan side needs to be given time to become the team of old, and has also urged all the fans to show patience.
