Question:

Player getting thrown out of a game while rounding the bases after a home-run?

I don't know if this has ever happened (probably not). But is it even possible.

Let's say that a pitcher throws at a batters head and then he hits a home run and while he is rounding the bases he and the pitcher get into a shouting match or maybe even a fight. Could the batter be ejected before he made it all the way around the bases and if so, would the home run count. Or would he finish circling the bases and then be tossed?

strange question, i know, but i was just curious if anyone knows what would happen.

thanks for any answers!!

  1. I would say if this happened and he got tossed before he got home, then no HR.  I am pretty sure it is only a hr if he gets to home.

  2. I would imagine they would treat it just like if he got hurt and couldn't finish running out the HR.  In that case they can get a "in play" pinch runner to finish the HR trot for him.

  3. yes he can be ejected, if he says the F word!

  4. Doubtful it would ever happen, but if it did, it would probably be treated the same as if the player was not able to run the bases due to injury. A pinch runner would be allowed to finish around the bases. A player getting ejected is never allowed to change whether a run counts or not.
