Martin Jol’s side would be satisfied after bagging a point against Rafael Benitez’s men at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
On matchday 14 of the English top tier football, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Fulham recorded a hard fought goalless draw at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, November 28.
The Blues commenced proceedings brightly at home, and enjoyed lion’s share of ball possession throughout the opening half. However, they failed to break the deadlock until the half-time break, and missed couple of decent opportunities.
The Cottagers staged a better show in the second-half, but they struggled to assert their authority on the pitch. Both sides had opportunities to score a goal, but neither of the two managed to hit the back of the net until the full time whistle, as the
game ended in a goalless draw.
Fulham:
Mark Schwarzer
Apart from a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-c13609 Torres’ tame attempt, the Australian goalkeeper was rarely tested by the home side, and had no trouble as well by crosses.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Arne-Riise-c18833
Kept http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eden-Hazard-c11863 quiet throughout the 90 minutes, and put in a solid performance to help his side keep a clean sheet. Made impressive runs forward, and tested Peter Cech as well with a long range effort.
Aaron Hughes
Remained solid in the heart of Cottagers’ defence throughout the game, and made no mistakes in intercepting incisive passes from the Blues’ midfielders. Struggled a bit with aerial balls, but all in all, it was a decent performance.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philippe-Senderos-c29952
Made some fine interceptions, and was hardly seen in trouble at the back. Another impressive outing to help his side bag a point.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sascha-Riether-c32598
Showed his class with his dominance over Ryan Bertrand, as he completely abolished any threat the midfielder might had possessed.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mahamadou-Diarra-c23077
Put in a dominant performance in the holding midfield position, and supported his back-line brilliantly before being substituted in the 64th minute.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giorgos-Karagounis-c14970
Struggled to adjust with the pace of the game in the opening half, but found his rhythm after the break. Made couple of decent interceptions at the centre of the park. Provided a brilliant ball to Riise, who failed to make good use of it.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Rodallega-c16414
Remained quiet for most part of the game, and offered little to the Cottagers’ attack. Apart from his one attempt on goal in the opening half, the Colombian ace struggled to perform at his best. All in all, it was not an impressive performance.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steve-Sidwell-c34181
Remained busy throughout the game, and put in a dazzling show away from home. Delivered an extremely tempting cross in the opening 45 minutes, but none of his teammates attacked the ball, and the chance went begging.
Damien Duff
For majority of the game, the Irish man was nowhere to be seen on the pitch, especially when his side attacked.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254
Enjoyed an impressive outing, though, he did not manage to add his name to the score-sheet. Hold up the ball brilliantly in the final third, but none of his teammates supported him to create anything threatening.
