Players Tour Championship Event 1 starts at World Snooker Academy, Sheffield: 2011-12 Snooker Season
First event of Players Tour Championship (PTC) is starting at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield on Saturday, June 18. With the commencement of the PTC Event 1, the 2011-12 Snooker Season will
begin too. All the professional players have sharpened their cues now to battle for the ultimate glory in the new season.
Before the event started, there were a couple of changes made by World Snooker in the PTCs. The first event was supposed to start from June 20 but due to the increase in the entries of the tournament,
World Snooker decided to launch it on June 18.
This season’s PTC events have received 25 percent more entries than last year as a lot more amateurs are participating in these events. The entries for the first event of the PTCs last year were 150,
with 73 professionals and 77 amateurs. However, this year the numbers have increased to 206 with 93 professionals and 113 amateurs.
Same is the case with other PTC events’ dates and entries. PTC Event 2 will now start from August 6 with 212 players, including 96 professionals and 116 amateurs. Event 3 will run from August 17 with
214 players, 98 of them professionals and 116 amateurs, while the fourth event will commence on August 24 with 244 players, including 95 professionals and 149 amateurs.

John Higgins
World Snooker Champion, John Higgins has a tremendous playing style that distinguishes him from others. He enjoyed a splendid last season with a couple of major titles, including 2011 Welsh Open and
the 2011 World Snooker Championship. His performance in last season’s PTC events was also outstanding as he two of the events in the competition.
Ronnie O’Sullivan
The Rocket, Ronnie O’Sullivan is one of the most unpredictable players in the snooker world. Despite his controversial last season, the critics still believe that he can win any tournament he wants.
His performance in last season's PTC events was also convincing.
