Players Tour Championship (PTC) hits Galway to commence final stage - Snooker news
The final stage of Players Tour Championship (PTC) will commence at Bailey Allen Hall in Galway, Ireland, from March 14-18. The likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, John Higgins, Mark Selby, Judd Trump, Mark Williams, Mark Allen and Stephen Hendry will be a part
of the showdown.
Recently, the first stage of PTC 12 finished at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield, England, after completing three rounds of play. The ultimate stage of PTC 12 will be held at Event Forum in Fürstenfeldbruck, Germany, with the fourth round in January,
2012.
The city of Galway will welcome the top 24 potters from around the world next March. Around 40 million snooker fans will be watching top players gathered at Galway to take part in the four-day international snooker tournament, which will be televised by
Eurosports from the start until the end. The total prize money of the tournament is around £250,000.
Speaking to the local media, World Snooker Spokesman said, “Our players have been all around the UK and Europe already this season, to locations including Poland, Belgium and Germany, and it has been a fantastic experience to bring snooker to those locations,
where the popularity of the sport is growing fast.”
The spokesperson added, “Now all eyes turn to Galway for what is sure to be a thrilling conclusion to the series. We staged the Grand Finals in Dublin last season and it was very well supported. We know there is a great passion for snooker in Ireland so
we have no doubt the fans will come to Galway and help create a sizzling atmosphere for the best players in the world.”
So far, the previous PTC events have featured different winners. Two PTC events were taken by none other than the Rocket, Ronnie O’Sullivan, to become the first player to win two PTC events in the same season. The 2011 UK Championship winner, Judd Trump,
became the second player after O’Sullivan who claimed two PTC victories this season.  
World snooker also said that the Bailey Allen Hall arena is an excellent place with all facilities of international standards. The tournament is definite to produce some stunning matches for spectators.
