Players complain of harassment by female models at Darwin Golf Club
Golfers, gathered at a promotional fund raising round of golf at the Darwin, later complained of “unusual” advances by the female models that were hired by the organizers to promote the event. The golfers alleged that the two models tried to “grope” the
players.
Darwin Life Magazine, one of the celebrated magazines in the northern most town of Australia, organized the event at Darwin Golf Club and had sponsored the seventh hole to raise funds for various charities.
"The girls were walking around opening up their bras and letting anyone see and feel their b*****s. One of them flashed and then pushed her b*****s right up against me," a source revealed to Herald Sun, one of the local newspaper in the region.
The event came out to be a huge success in terms of raising the required fund and the organizers were lauded by the newspaper’s publisher and Editor Leasel Avila, saying she was not aware of the unusual incidents that happened on the course.
One of the source also revealed that when the players went over to tee-off for the hole, the girls reportedly approached them and even humped them from behind while they weighed their tee-shots.
"I was extremely uncomfortable," said one player.
Another source, also a player at the event, said, "I went to get a beer from the esky and one of the girls jumped into the esky, bent over in my face, passed the beer through her legs and said 'I've got a wedgie ... Oh I gave that to myself'."
The player also said that the whole episode was aimed at providing fun in good nature but it all went too far for comfort for the guests present at the ceremony.
Avila shrugged off all the complaints and said that no such incident took place and that the whole issue is being blown out of proportion to tarnish the magazine’s image. The event was able to raise the much needed AU$40,000 (US$42,444) for charity.
Darwin Golf Club provides one of the finest golf facilities at the Northern end of Australia with its unique lush green surroundings. The course is a Par 72, 18-hole championship course designed by Thomson & Woolveridge and has been in operation since 1974.
