Players gear up for 2013 LPGA season
With another exciting Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) season over, golf fans are beginning to get a much clearer picture of how the contenders will pan out and who will retain
their positions in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
The 2013 LPGA season will be all about mapping out plans to cement players’ positions in the world ranking ahead of the challenging tournaments set to kick off early in the year.
But players, who have had a poor stint in the 2012 LPGA season, will need to find form as soon as possible, while those having already got on track will be looking to build on their momentum.
The last event of the season—CME Group Titleholders 2012 reached a new height and a good audience, at The TwinEagles Club, with Asian stars once again trampling their American counterparts
on their own soil.
Americans and Asians have battle-hardened contenders on their sides and some of them made strong starts to their campaigns on the recently-concluded LPGA Tour. So this is highly expected that
the new season will be more crucial in terms of world rankings.
South Korean Na Yeon Choi knew that she was one of the hot stars in the Asian lineup, and she had what it took to crush rivals at the CME Group Titleholders. Choi grabbed a two-stroke victory
against another South Korean, So Yeon Ryu, to cap off the season on a high note.
On the non-Asian side, American Stacy Lewis grabbed much of the attention as she won the Best Player of the Year title. With four victories that pushed the number of her top-10 finishes to
an eye-popping 16, Lewis became the final hope for most of the American golf fans.
Norwegian Suzann Pettersen also toughened up in the second half of the 2012 season, and clinched two back-to-back victories in October. She beat rivals at the LPGA Hana Bank Championship and
Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012.
Pettersen has vowed to carry on in the same way in the upcoming season, because she thinks that she has regained her lost form. Sharing her thoughts at the of CME Group Titleholders 2012 last
week, Pettersen said that she is focusing on both short and long game.
