Players looking to move in January Transfer Window - Part 1
The January transfer window is round the corner and already there have been speculations in the market about some marquee players but there are some players in some clubs that are certain to leave their current employers come January and search for greener
pastures elsewhere.
Here is a list of such players who will be looking for a move in the winter transfer window along with possible suitors:
Michael Owen and Aston Villa:
Gerrard Houllier has only been in-charge of the Villains for a couple of months and he has already denied the possibility of Michael Owen’s transfer to Villa Park. But, looking at it a little deeply this one could be a match made in heaven and no matter
how much the manager denies the link; the possibility cannot be ruled out of the ex-England front man joining hands with the former Liverpool manager.
Owen is currently injured but even when fully fit, he struggles to make it to Manchester United. With the arrival of Javier Hernandez, it is even more likely for the one time prolific striker to feature alongside Rooney or Berbatov in the United starting
line-up.
Javier may be a younger, sharper and more athletic version of Owen but at Aston Villa, Owen’s faltering career may just take off for one last time. John Carew and Emile Heskey are spent forces while Agbonlahor needs a proven goal scorer alongside him. In
Michael Owen, Houllier may just find the right answer to Villa’s all goal-scoring woes.
Scott Parker and Tottenham Hotspur:
West Ham are currently rooted to the bottom of English Premier League, having conjured only 9 points from 14 games but one thing that is going right for the Hammers is the form of Scott Parker.
Although, this transfer may not suit all parties involved as Hammers certainly would not like their midfield talisman leaving the Upton Park but Tottenham can certainly do with a dogged presence in their midfield. If Harry decides to offer Parker a chance
to play at White Hart Lane, he may find it hard to turn down a chance to play in the Champions League and that too instantly.
Parker may be 30 years old but he certainly has a few more years left in him and he better not be wasting those years in the Championship. He is 30, cheap, motivated and a perfect fit for an injury stricken Spurs' midfield.
David Bentley and Sunderland:
David Bentley may be the old ‘new David Beckham’ but it has been a while that he was labelled as such and since then he has not done anything on the pitch that could sky rocket his career. Playing in a Spurs' side where he can find no room in the starting
lineup in the presence of Aaron Lennon, he is better off looking elsewhere where at least he can start every match. One such place can surely be The Stadium of Light.
Harry Redknapp has time and again said that he needs to sell to buy. He must look at Bentley everyday in training and think when he will be able to sell him and free a few bucks that he could use to bolster his squad for the continental competition. Sunderland
may be the perfect place for Bentley as previous Spurs' flop Darren Bent gave his career a new lease of life at Sunderland. Bentley may just be able to do the same.
Moreover, Sunderland desperately need a winger who can run at defenders and put in perfect crosses. While Spurs have Lennon, Bentley may just want to look towards the North West come the January transfer window.
