Players looking to move in January Transfer Window - Part 2
Continuing the 'matches' that could prove to be match made in heaven, here is a continuation of the list of footballers who may seek a transfer in the January transfer window and make/recreate a name for themselves:
Ryan Shawcross and Chelsea:
Chelsea have recently been linked to David Luiz, a Brazilian centre back who earns his bread playing for SL Benfica in Portugal. But, Luiz may mean a transfer fees in excess of 20 million pounds and with the faith that Carlo Ancelotti has in John Terry and
Alex, his first choice central defensive pairing, it seems highly unlikely that the London Blues would be spending such an exorbitant fees for a defender that would be nothing more than ‘third choice’ at Stamford Bridge.
Won’t young, English, cheap, energetic and motivated fit the bill better? and Ryan Shawcross is just that. Shawcross is also the same mould as Terry and he may well turn into a world class defender that Terry is right now, given that his talents are properly
nurtured. Chelsea could just be the right place and Shawcross could just be the man for Chelsea.
Roque Santa Cruz and Fulham:
There can be no denying the fact that Roque Santa Cruz could walk the ramp for any of top European designers but equally undeniable is the fact that the Paraguayan is out come January. Equally undeniable is another fact that Mark Hughes will welcome him
with arms wide open at Craven Cottage, after all he has bought him on two previous occasions so why not again?
Bobby Zamora is a long term absentee, Andy Johnson is not even a fraction of a player that terrorized defences playing for Crystal Palace but the big question is whether Hughes will have the funds to bring the striker in on anything other than a loan? Nonetheless,
the possibility exits and that’s exactly why this match exists on this list.
Johan Elmander and Liverpool:
Owen Coyle has time and again suggested that he needs to sell before he can buy someone but at the same time, he has also suggested that he will never sell his star striker Johan Elmander but who knows what can happen if Liverpool come up with a big offer.
There is no counter argument to the fact that Liverpool need a proven goal scorer in their ranks to ease off some pressure from the shoulders of Fernando Torres. Elmander has evolved into a player that terrorizes defences and his 8 goals in 14 games are
a glaring testament to that.
A few could argue that moving to a club like Liverpool is not a good decision for the journeyman striker. After all, he is not cup-tied, cheap and a proven goal scorer.
Emmanuel Adebayor and Inter Milan:
Manchester City only bought Adebayor the summer before last but since then, he has failed to establish himself in the first team. After the arrival of Carlos Tevez, his stints in the first team have been limited further. Adebayor is a sublime talent and
there are plenty of admirers all around.
City are over reliant on Carlos Tevez for their goals but so are Inter on Samuel Eto and they certainly could do with another striker who could bang in a few goals to give the Milan giants some dynamism in front of goal. After falling behind in the pecking
order, the Togo international is seeking a move away from the Eastlands and with Inter interested, he may just find a perfect place to reignite his career.
Plus, Inter have the finances to afford the kind of wage bill that Emannuel demands but at the same time, he can give them something back for their money. There is no denying the fact that he can score goals no matter what league he plays in.
