The Germany tactician insists that the loss to Italy in the semi-finals of the 2006 World Cup will have no effect on his team.
Days before the tournament had kicked-off http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 to lift the Euro 2012 trophy. Joachim Low’s side have justified their favourites’ tag by putting in impressive performances.
The Mannschaft defeated the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 to reach the last eight of the tournament, where they convincingly thrashed a plucky Greek side with a slightly weakened team. Now the Nationalelf will be up against
Italy, a side they have lost to in the previous seven matches of major tournaments.
The last time these two sides met, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 scored twice in extra time and got the better of the Germans in the semi-finals of the 2006 World Cup. This time around the Nationalelf will be confident of breaking the hoodoo as they have
momentum on their side.
Their manager Joachim Low believes in those six years the team has gained a lot maturity, which they lacked back in 2006. Now his players have got the mental strength to shake off the memories from that semi-final. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philipp-Lahm-c29929 are the only players from the current side who participated in the 2006 World Cup.
Most of the players from this current Mannschaft side were too young play for the national team. He insists they only know about the game form history, and in his opinion the 2006 semi-final will have no effect on his players whatsoever.
"I don't think we had the maturity back then but it doesn’t matter anymore. It doesn’t really have any relevance - a lot of these players weren’t there. They know of the game from history but it doesn’t play a role in a very important
game tomorrow,” he is quoted as saying in an interview.
Low further maintains that his youthful team is capable of beating any team in the world, and they have shown it in the tournament. He insists his team will not be intimidated by any hoodoo or record.
"Our team can beat any team in the world. We will play our own game with our own ideas, regardless of who our opponent is,” he added.
The DFB eleven should not be worried about some six-year old semi-final, because they have a side who is capable of winning the European Championship. They should use their youthfulness to their advantage and play at a high tempo
to tire Cesare Prandelli’s men.
