Players sign multi- year deals for the upcoming Big Bash season - Cricket News Update
The second edition of the Australian Big Bash League (BBL) is all set to roll on this coming December, with the initial recruitment phase witnessing some big names signing multi-year deals with the eight franchises.
Crowd favourites like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LJ-Wright-c1841 are among the high-profile players penning down long term contracts.
Many other players have also given their consent to sign deals for the 2012 season and beyond, with a number of players enticed to switch teams. Fifteen new players will feature in this year’s Big Bash edition with Sydney Thunder, Melbourne Renegades making nine changes, while runners-up Perth Scorchers making eight.
“We expected there’d be a lot more competition for signatures this year and that has been the case, particularly with teams now able to sign players to multi-year contracts,” KFC T20 Big Bash League Manager Anthony Everard said.
Except for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glenn-Maxwell-c60189 moved to Melbourne Stars, while Cummins has headed to the Scorchers.
“What we’ve seen over the past two weeks is that teams have done a lot work after BBL|01 to further develop their recruiting strategies and target players from outside their existing squads who they believe will help build long-term success,” said the BBL manager.
“As well as stability for teams and players, the multi-year deals are also very important for fans because it now gives them certainty about the players who will wear their team’s colours this season and beyond,” Everard further added.
Other big names from the international circuit making their BBL debuts will include http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KA-Pollard-c1754, Wright, Shah and Botha will return for their second season.
With more players expected to come, franchises have till November 30 to finalise their 18-man squad. Perth Scorchers is the only team so far to have filled their entire list.
