Players that can fulfil the youth void in the Los Angeles Lakers – NBA Special Report (Part-1)
An unforeseen play-off exit has firmly put the highlight on the Los Angeles Lakers’ shortcomings. The two times defending champions battled against the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals where they were swept out
4-0.
Accompanied with the brilliance of the German sharp-shooter Dirk Nowitzki, the Mavericks utterly dominated the proceedings against the might of Kobe Bryant, and the Lakers had nothing to take home other than a series of defeats.
Even though, Lakers were well equipped with a number of most senior players in the league, however they lacked the agility and strength of a young player to help them reinforce the energy on the court.
Secondly, Lakers needs a youthful star who can provide support to the legendary Bryant in running the offensive system of the team. Kobe was the lone scorer for the team most of the time during this year’s play-offs as this has
to change.
And most importantly, Lakers need someone more versatile and supple on the point guard. The 36-year-old Derrick Fisher lacks speed and agility to compete with the best point guards in NBA which hampered them in the Conference
Finals.
The most talked about young guns these days are Orlando Magics’ Dwight Howards, Los Angeles Clippers Blake Griffin and New Orleans Hornets’ Chris Paul. However these players might not agree on shifting their talent and the teams
themselves can’t afford to lose them as they will do maximum to keep their star players so they have less chances of being reached.
The finest young players that can be a part Lakers in the next season to infuse some energy in the line-up are discussed as follow.
Monta Ellis: 6 foot 3 inch Guard
The instrumental Combo guard of Golden State Warriors Monta Ellis is the answer of all of the three big concerns for the Lakers. Ellis is Young, a prolific scorer and can provide a lot depth as a point guard or shooting guard.
Ellis is not just a formidable scoring threat for any opposition, who averaged 24.1 points in the last season; he is also quite active on the rebounds and assists. Monta’s irresistible agility and strength makes him one of the
best emerging dominating players in the league who can power any side with his immense talent.
Michael Beasley: 6 foot 9 inch forward
Minnesota Timberwolves’ Michael Beasley had the best 2010-2011 season with the team after spending two years with the Miami Heat. With the scoring prowess and a gigantic physique, Beasley can be a best fit for the Lakers.
Michael is just an outstanding player with unmatchable hidden talent and being around with the veteran Bryant, it can do wonders for not only Beasley but also for Lakers. The young superstar averaged 19.2 points and 5.6 rebounds
in the last season which is just going to get better. Having the big star on the roster will fulfil the gap of a young influential player for the Lakers.
