Peter Ebdon
Former World Snooker Championship winner, England’s Peter Ebdon showed great performance in the final proceedings of the 2011-12 Snooker Season. He finished the season in style winning the 2012 China Open snooker event just before the commencement of the
2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. He was determined to produce some good results but unfortunately he failed to play up to the mark and tumbled down in the first round of the mega event.
After winning the 2012 China Open, the Englishman placed himself in the final round of the 2012 World Championship qualifying session where he was up against compatriot Alfie Burden. He defeated Burden by the score line of 10-0 to book his place in the opening
round of the tournament. He set up his first round clash against the four-time World Snooker Championship winner, Ronnie O’Sullivan who defeated him by the score line of 10-4.
However, Ebdon was not disheartened and started the new snooker season with a low performance in the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker clash where he crashed out of the snooker event at the hands of 2011 Australian Goldfields Open winner Stuart Bingham by the score
line of 5-4 in the first round. He was not able to perform accordingly in the 2012 Six-Red World Championship and slipped out of the round-robin format matches.
The Englishman bounced back brilliantly in the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament and made his way into the final encounter. He started his event campaign with a superb victory over Michael Holt by 5-4. Ebdon had tussling encounters in his
first three rounds against Holt, Ding Junhui and Shaun Murphy which built his confidence and he trashed Marco Fu by the score line of 6-2. Despite the fact that he was in good shape, he failed to improvise against Barry Hawkins in the final and tumbled down
by the score line of 9-3.
Reaching the final game of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open boosted Ebdon’s confidence a lot and he was able to make his way into the first round of the 2012 Shanghai Masters after beating David Grace 5-4 in the final round of the qualifying session.
Ebdon is one of the potters who can make an upset at anytime and because he is good shape in the new season, he will definitely be a troubling opponent in the 2012 Shanghai event. He has the ability to unsettle his opponents in no time during the game. However,
his playing style is a bit slow because he tries to play a perfect shot. He will definitely be the players to watch in the upcoming Chinese clash.
