Players to watch out for in 2013
The 2012 PGA Tour is headed towards its close and people are already looking towards the 2013 season.
As expected, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods dominated the tour this year. They will also be in the headlines for the next season, especially for the Masters.
Many have been talking about the new rivalry that has developed between them, although Tiger and the world number one both know that it is a baseless fabrication.
Predictable as it is, many will be talking about them for the upcoming events. The way Woods and Rory played this year, majority would be talking about their success in the next season as well.
All the house hold names, such as Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, Webb Simpson, Bubba Watson and Keegan Bradley will be the favourites for the first few tournaments.
However, there is a strong fleet emerging from the Web.com Tour as well, which will be plying its trade on the PGA Tour during the next season.
On October 25th, 25 players got promoted from the Web.com Tour to the PGA Tour. Among them, there are around five excellent players who will make their mark next season.
Ted Potter, Jr. and Jonas Blixt also got promotion from the Web.com Tour last year. This year, they have successfully managed to win on the tour as well.
This shows that there is talent coming up from the lower ranks. Following are the top players from the Web.com Tour who will make their mark next season.
Russell Henley is a former Georgia Bulldog. The 23-year-old had a solid 2012 season. He won twice on the developmental tour to earn his card with ease.
Hensley does not have one of the smoothest of the swings but he is a fighter and a big competitor. Russell will always put up a good fight against his rivals. It is this quality of his that makes him a player to look out for in 2013.
Luke Guthrie had a hot season on the Web.com tour. The 22-year-old turned pro during the summers and soon found success.
He bagged in two victories in his first ten events on the Web.com Tour. His back to back wins were preceded by four top-ten finishes and followed by solid performances in the rest of the season.
Guthrie is one of the best upcoming American golfers. At the John Deere Classic he finished T5 and carded a seven-under on the final round.
He is sure to make a name for himself right in his rookie season.
Luke List has one of the best golf swings in the game but the 27-year-old has not made such a profound mark in his earlier appearances, especially at the major events.
In 2005, he finished T33 at the Masters and, since then, it has been a slow coming for List. Now that he is finally on the PGA tour, he has the opportunity to show the class which he possesses.
Ben Kohles won twice on the Web.com Tour. What was more impressive was that his victories were back to back.
Since winning on the Web.com Tour, former Virginia star has not been very impressive throughout the rest of the season.
However, he has been playing some decent golf. The important thing is that Kohles knows how to win on the tour.
These players will be under the radar next year. They have already come in the limelight through a brilliant and a promising display of their talent in the 2012 season.
