Players who could partner Torres at Liverpool
Fernando Torres recently expressed his desire to stay at the club for another season. Reports have also come in that, Liverpool will have some money to spend on the signing of players. This means that Torres could potentially finally have a partner to play with in front of the goal at Anfield. Here is a look at some players who could do just that.
Diego Forlan is the thirty one year old star of the FIFA World Cup 2010. He landed the Golden ball which is awarded to the best player of the tournament. He was also the joint top scorer at the tournament. He single handily carried Uruguay to the fourth spot. Forlan was also the first player in twenty years, to have scored more than four goals from outside the box during his run at the World Cup. Forlan would be a great partner for Torres. He has proven that he is a consistent goal scorer and tends to rise to the occasion when required. Forlan could provide the support that Torres needs and might even be able to see Liverpool come out of the slum that they have fallen in.
Sergio Aguero the Argentine footballing sensation could be another possible target. The player may only be twenty two years old, however he has been playing international football for seven years now and has been in the Argentinean football squad for a good four years. That just means that Aguero has more than enough experience at the age of twenty two. Aguero is a good finisher and has managed to score twenty or so goals for the last three seasons running. He is currently employed at Athletico Madrid who were the former employers for Torres. This means that Torres and Aguero have already played together in the past. They also speak the same language, which means that there would be no barrier of communication or coordination between the players. Aguero isn’t only a goal scorer he is also a good dribbler of the ball. He would prove to be very useful in the Pool attack but it’s a matter of whether or not Liverpool would be able to pay the ridiculous transfer fee that is being asked for the player.
Edin Dzeko has managed to score seventy nine goals in a hundred and twenty games for Wolfsburg. Dzeko was being considered as a possible Torres replacement in the past. Since Torres committed his future to the club all those speculations died down. However both the players could still manage to play together. Both of them are world class strikers who score tremendous and spectacular goals repeatedly. Dzeko is currently twenty four years old and has just hit his prime where. He would cost Liverpool a fair share of their transfer kitty as well. Dzeko would be a tremendous addition to the Liverpool squad. He could prove to be the crucial player upfront who holds the ball and then feeds it to Torres. Dzeko has been linked to Milan, Juventus and Manchester City as well. Which means that if Liverpool wish to sign the player they would need to act fast. Dzeko is only twenty four years old which means that he is a future and long term prospect for whatever team he joins.
Liverpool now have a wide list of players to choose from, to help partner Torres. It is now officially up to the Liverpool management and officials to decide who they feel would be the right player to partner the player. It would also mainly be down to what player they can afford.
