Players will learn to respect NBA after playing overseas: NBA Update
The International federation of basketball (FIBA) has given permission to all the NBA players to play for other teams during the NBA lockout. This permission is a welcome sign for all the interested players who were pursuing many
overseas playing opportunities in many parts of the world. Although this permission will be very helpful for promoting the basketball all across the world as people will love to see all those great names in the game, but now all these players have to prove
their talents abroad.
The European leagues will also see huge fan following after the likes of Kobe Bryant and Deron Williams will be playing in those leagues.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) was locked out on July 1st
over labour unrest between the Players Association. This lockout has forced many players to sign contracts with overseas teams. The NBA owners and the Players Association are still showing no signs to solve this growing tension between the two parties
while this stubborn attitude of both parties has forced many players to play overseas during this ongoing lockout. This growing trend of playing overseas somehow legalized by the basketball’s governing body FIBA on July 29th and acknowledged the
league players’ talent.
FIBA Secretary General Patrick Baumann was also very excited when this permission was given to the league players. He spoke to the media and said, “As the world governing body for basketball, we strongly hope that the labor dispute
will be resolved as soon as possible and that the NBA season is able to begin as scheduled, In view of our role to promote basketball worldwide, we support any player wishing to play the game, wherever and whenever.”
Playing in the biggest basketball league in the world is an every amateur basketball player’s dream. Many quit colleges for fulfilling this dream as they know the league will be taking-care of their future financial issues. These
youngsters enter and find themselves in a different environment. The huge salaries, big contracts and first-class luxury life styles make all these players spoiled.
Apart from all these luxuries, these players now have to adapt themselves in European environment as they have granted permission by the (FIBA). Though these NBA players are also demanding huge salaries from overseas teams, but
still they would not be getting the same amount of salaries from these European clubs as compare to NBA’s salaries.
On the other hand, all these players also have to prove their talents in Europe. Basketball is certainly becoming a global sport while the level of competition is also increasing. The NBA players will be playing against some of
the best players in Europe and this tough competition will also pull many fans to the basketball courts where they can see all these superstars playing against each other.
