Playing Barbies Still? What do you think?

Okay, I know this sounds childish, but I'm 13, and I still play barbies. I'm actually a really boyish girl, but I still play barbies. I've been playing in my basement while my mom and sister are gone, but I want to know if this is normal. What should I do? Should I talk to my therapist?

It is perfectly OK to play with Barbies. It's the way you play with them that matters. If you are just fumbling with them with no reason, then it is quite a problem.  But if you are using the dolls as characters and creating a storyline and stuff, you are just being creative.  Whether or not playing with Barbies is childish all depends on what an observer thinks.  Don't let them stop you from doing what you like.  I mean, some old guys who are like 70+ still watch Saturday morning cartoons!

dude thats ok me and my best friend still  play house and all that c**p and uh i am a girl its just that this is my dads account ;) i worry about that too but dont worry if its wat u like then heck with it and if it feels like its a burden then tell ur closest friend or someone u trust if its not then keep it a secret but i assure u its OK. :D

Take a look at the dolls category on any auction site, and you'll find 100,00's of dolls listed for sale. Guess what ? 75% are grown woman buying  who still love their dolls, collect and play with them.  Why not, don't plenty of grown men still have train sets and model cars don't they?  You shouldn't be embarrassed. I say bring them out of the basement and put a shelf up and make a display of them.  When you think of what so many other 13 yr. old girls are doing , your mother should be happy and proud you aren't afraid to be yourself!  You go Girl!

My brother is 13 and he and all of his friends still play with toys like this (not Barbies, but they play role play with anything they can get their hands on).  I'm an adult and sometimes I even play with him! Have fun.

I still play with Barbies and I'm 30.  I played in high school.  Who cares.  Its fun.

It's not abnormal, it's a good way to get your frustration out, a good way to deal with stress or loneliness, and their collectible too! =D You're only 13, it's not horrible. I know grown women who still play with Barbies... it's ok! =) If you think their alive, and are real little people...then it's time to go see a therapist ^^. Otherwise, it's completely normal! I mean, 13 year old guys still play with action figures, no?
