I have a new Sony HDMI DVD recorder/player and a Samsung HD ready TV, attached to each other with an HDMI lead.

When I try to play an HD/DVD the message is either "can't use" or "error" Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thanks,

Sandy

  1. Your DVD player isn't an HD-DVD player. It is a standard player that only plays (and records) regular DVD's, but it up-converts them when you play them to make them look slightly better (it just adds more pixels to the picture). but besides that, HD-DVD is an obsolete format. Sony's Blu-Ray won the format war. If you act quickly, you can still find HD-DVD players on eBay, before they are all gone. Email me if you need more help.
