Playing The Field to grab victory in the Join Now At Rewards4Racing.Com Handicap Chase on 20th February
The Class 4 Join Now At Rewards4Racing.Com Handicap Chase for five-year and older thoroughbreds is to be staged at Carlisle on Monday, 20th February. It is raced over two miles and four furlongs, a distance over which thirteen horses will contest.
Et Maintenant, Johann Quatz’s ten-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare Dunlora, is a strong string in the lineup of the thirteen contestants. He has defended his place after breaking into the new season. His debut culminated in a second position which he set straight not after long by claiming the very next start.
On 2nd January, Et Maintenant came second in the Bet Mobile At Victorchandler.Com Handicap Chase at Ayr. Bene Lad was the 2/1 favourite of the race.
Et Maintenant’s next start was on 1st February at Newcastle in the Digibet Handicap Chase, who won the race. The favourite for the three miles race was Playing The Field, who finished the race third and will yet again encounter Et Maintenant today.
The most promising candidate on the lineup is Playing The Field, Deploy’s seven-year-old bay gelding out of mare Gaelic Buccaneer, trained by David O’Meara. Just like Et Maintenant, Playing The Field has also raced twice during the season. The difference lies in the outcomes of the races and that Playing The Field has been sent as a favourite in both his starts.
Playing The Field posted his seasonal debut victory on 7th January in the Digibet Handicap Chase at Newcastle. He was the 5/2 favourite for the race, leading by 3 ½ lengths. Sammy Spiderman was the runner up of the race while finishing third behind the winner was Teerie Express.
Playing The Field was the 2/1 favourite in the second start of the year, which was won by Et Maintenant who led the runner up, Definite Appeal, by a shoulder on a field of seven contestants.
Despite being the favourite and having won the prior race, Playing The Field was put at a disadvantage by Et Maintenant on the 1st of this month. How will the two compete today and tackle the competition that is to be presented by the rest of the lineup, will become news soon.
