Playing US PS3 Games on a UK PS3?

Is it possible to do so? I know it's supposed to be region free for most of the PS3 games, but I'm wondering if I'll have any problems with it, because of the different regions or it being NTSC instead of PAL. My TV is a normal UK one so PAL by default but it is okay for playing NTSC games usually, I've played US and JP PS2 ones on there.

Only people who have actually tried a US game on a UK PS3 please. I'm hoping for a definite answer rather than a 'it should work in theory' one.

Yes you can play any region games.

The games are not locked to a region but the Blu ray films are.

you can play US games but cannot download content from UK store e.g I bought Cod 4 from America but cannot download the map pack on the uk store so i had to make an american account to do it.

PS3 is made by sony, and they most likely function internationally

and if you do have problems, then ask sony (email) or return the game

I'm doing it the other way around, play PAL games on NTSC PS3. No problems at all (your TV must support NTSC signal, though, but you said yourself that old PS2 NTSC games run). No problem. Most of PS3 games are region free.
