Question:

Playing burned DVDs on DVD player?

I made a custom DVD using Ulead Video Studio. I used a DVD+R disc, and it does run on my Sony DVD player, but after playing for a minute or so it starts to get choppy, and then so choppy it skips and slows down to not moving at all. But it will play fine in my DVD-Rom of my computer. I know my DVD player can play these discs, at least the specifications say it can, and it is progressive scan. Is it just that DVD players are not good at playing burned discs?

  1. Try burning at a low speed. And if u have a slow computer try not run any programs while burning.

  2. It could be the DVD player, DVD brand, DVD burner, DVD type.  First, I would suggest using a name-brand DVD-R, not DVD+R.  I have had flawless performance with DVD-R.  I have had problems with DVD+R working consistently on different DVD players.

As far as the burner, it should be a quality burner.  I bought an off-brand burner, and it would only work on half of my DVD players.  I bought a Pioneer burner and no more coasters.

  3. I find that they play better on my PS2.

  4. Wish I could help, but I've got a $50 DVD player that plays burns just great.  The discs tend to go out after a while, though.

  5. Yes and No. Some DVD players are VERY...sensitive to burned discs, as sometimes it will work and sometimes not.

I had the same problem, went out and bought a new $60 DVD Player at Walmart and Ta Da, solution fixed.
