Playing computer sound on surround sound home theater system?

I'm going to get Panasonic SC-HT940 Deluxe 5 DVD HomeTheater System with my lcd TV. If I connect computer on this system and play 1080p movie trailer will it play hifi sounds? Also games or sound that has surround sound if I play in computer will it play in surround sound on the system?

  1. Alas your system has only stereo analog inputs and no video inputs so you cannot do any external surround sound OR video.You can use analog stereo input and simulate surround (I think!)

    Here are the basics to look for if you decide you need more than the Panny can provide:

    There are many variables but here goes:

    If you have a surround sound (5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 channel) sound card, AND your home theater has 5.1 analog inputs, you can take the front, center/sw and rear (side et all) outputs to the analog inputs of your receiver. you may also  use what is called a spdif output, digital coax output or optical output from the PC to the Receiver.
