Question:

Playing divx movies off of DVD-RW?

On my computer I have downloaded movies and to play them I have to also download the Divx codec to play the movies themselves.

Does anyone know a way to put this codec on the DVD-RW so that I can play the DVD as currently it is just not recognising the disc.

Thanks

  1. I think you mean that you want to play divx movies on a regular DVD player.

Many DVD players just won't do it.  Mine (which is a PVR that has DivX Video On Demand (VOD) capabilities) says:

    1) get the video player's registration code (see the user manual)

    2) register a user account on the DivX website http://www.divx.com/vod

    3) Enter the registration code in your account.  This will send you to a download page with a small film.  Burn the short film to a blank disk.  This is your activation disk.

    4) Put the activation disk in your DVD player.  Once the short film has finished playing, your machine has been registered.

    5) Now you should be able to play your pre-recorded DivX movie(s)
