Playing for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 - Cricket News Update
Opening batsman of the Indian cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, has run down the claims that he purposely sit out of Twenty20 and ODI match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013. Gambhir revealed that he opted not to play after doctors advised him to take
a 10-day rest.
The left-handed batsman believes that one should only play when he can contribute properly and asserted that playing for India with a blurred vision would have back-fired, as he would have been more of a liability than an asset
for the team.
“The doctors said if you are http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jason-Neil-Gillespie-c66461 and puking, these are symptoms of concussion. If I tried to focus on one object my vision remained blurry. If your vision is blurry, you can't judge the pace of the ball, not only are you putting
yourself at risk but also letting your team down,” said Gambhir.
The 29-year-old left-hander suffered from this concussion on Friday, August 19, as he smacked his head to the ground after attempting to take a catch of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 on day two of fthe ourth Test match against England. Gambhir
felt discomfort ever since and did not come out to bat at his usual opening spot in both innings of that game.
Gambhir has been cursed with injuries off-late; the 29-year-old was forced to sit out in third Test due to an elbow injury. Many critics lashed out at Gambhir’s exclusion from third Test and said that he should have endured the
pain and played through the game.
However, the batsman begged to differ from these claims and concluded that it was not about fending off the deliveries rather it was about scoring runs and with a swollen elbow, batting was next to impossible.
“It might be easy for an outsider to say that it is not broken and he can play, but the pain was too much. And an elbow injury is different from a hand injury. You can bat with a swollen hand, but it is very difficult with a painful
elbow,” said Gambhir.
